Company History
Over 30 Years of Aircraft Management & Jet Charter ServicesMayo Aviation, Inc. was established in 1978 by Gwendolyn O Mayo, Ph.D. She saw a need for a business jet and turbo prop aircraft charter, management and maintenance organization to serve Denver and the Rocky Mountain region.
With her ever present spirit, Gwen dedicated herself to her company and industry. For her hard work, dedication, and determination she has received many awards and achieved significant industry positions. In 1993, she was inducted into the Colorado Aviation Hall of Fame. In 1995, she became the first woman chair of the Board for the National Air Transportation Association (NATA). In 2002, she was awarded the William A. Ong award for life time achievement in aviation by the NATA. In 2003, she was awarded the order of the Silk Scarf by the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA). In 2008, Centennial Airport presented her with a special award at their 40th anniversary celebration.
Along the way, Mayo Aviation has been recognized as the largest non-scheduled operator of King Air aircraft, according to Beechcraft, operating as many as 11 King Airs concurrently. Additionally, Mayo has operated or currently operates Cessna Citations, 421s, 441s, Sabre Liners, Cheyennes, Pilatus, Learjets, Hawker jets, Falcons, and Challengers, as well as Bell Jet Ranger Helicopters.
Since our inception, we have offered our clients safe and reliable aircraft charter, superior aircraft maintenance, and customized Denver aircraft management services. In 1979, Mayo began its long association with Flight for Life, the first civilian air ambulance organization in the United States. We continue that tradition today with two King Airs dedicated to the program. Our physician outreach flying program has been operating since 1979. We value our longstanding relationships and are honored to continue to serve our charter clients who have been flying with us for over three decades.
