Sterling Aviation is a privately held, full-service corporate aviation firm specializing in aircraft management, air charter, aircraft maintenance, and acquisition support of aircraft for private air travel. Sterling holds certifications as an FAA Part 135 on-demand World Wide Air Carrier and an FAA Certified Part 145 Repair Station. Sterling is one of just 20 companies listed on the prestigious Air Charter Safety Foundation’s Industry Audit Standard Registry, the premier safety auditing firm in the corporate and private aviation industry. We are Gold Rated by ARG/US, approved participants in the Wyvern PASS (Pilots & Aircraft Safety Survey) program and approved to conduct back-up flight operations for the industry’s top fractional aircraft providers and Fortune 50 companies.
Company History
For nearly 30 years, Sterling Aviation and its predecessor have provided high quality aircraft management and Part 135 charter air flights. In 2004, the company was purchased by Dan and Chris Doerr and rechristened Sterling Aviation.
Shortly thereafter, Rob Gort was named President and Chief Operating Officer, bringing three decades of expertise in aviation operations and management to the organization. The Doerrs draw on a 30-plus-year history of corporate aircraft ownership, which forms the foundation of exceptional service protocols focused on exceeding client expectations.
The period since the formation of Sterling Aviation has been one of consistent progress and expansion – in our fleet, FAA authorizations, our activity levels and our revenues. We are also especially pleased to say that it has been a time of growth in the ability to serve our aircraft owners and charter clients with expanded operational capabilities and the economics of fleet discounts.
We made significant investments in our Milwaukee base facility, including a contemporary and highly functional departure suite. Renovations to our FAA certified Part 145 repair station have increased efficiencies in servicing our owners’ aircraft, allowing for maximum dispatch reliability.
We have substantially increased our lift capacity in all jet and turboprop aircraft classes, through our own fleet additions and through new relationships with other aircraft charter companies. We have deployed technology across the organization that allows us to do our jobs better and more efficiently for our valued clients.
Most of all the past few years have been a time of growth for our Sterling associates – not only in numbers, but more importantly in the skills, dedication and sensitivity our people bring to every client interaction. They are the essence of what has come to be known as The Sterling Experience.
